Geographies of Energy Poverty in Portugal

Energy poverty is a multidimensional complex problem with several causes, drivers, and consequences, that vary considerably across regions. This page presents the spatial distribution of several indicators that can provide useful information for an improved understanding of this social issue in Portugal as well as exploring the best and most impactful solutions to improve dwellings' energy efficiency and reduce citizens' vulnerability.

EPVI heating (1-20) : The Energy Poverty Vulnerability Index in the Heating Season combines: 1) the calculation of the thermal disconfort gap in the heating season using energy demand modelling and energy consumption statistics; 2) the adaptive capacity of the population, integrating socioeconomic indicators such as income, unemployment, age and education.
