Since 2014, LIVRE has organized Os Setembristas, an initiative for the debate of ideas – free, open and broad – that intellectually characterizes progressivism. LIVRE's openness to debate with society also fulfills the objective of crossing perspectives, which is intended to be enriching for members and supporters. This initiative has been held every year in the month of September, paying homage to these precursors of progressivism in Portugal who were, in the 19th century, the Setembristas. With this movement, the Left was born in Portugal. The values ​​of progressivism and emancipation are the ones that, in the serious moment of crisis we are experiencing today, should inspire us in the urgent construction of a liberating alternative, both more viable and more open to all the contributions that can reach it from the broad field of the Left.
