There will be three sections to the webinar, each ~ 20 minutes (inc. 10 for discussion):

  • Backstory and social focus + discussion

  • Digital tools + discussion
-Position in the Portugese Energy Landscape + final discussion

The Telheiras/Lumiar Renewable Energy Community is a citizen-led project in Portugal, being promoted by the Local Partnership of Telheiras - a network of non-profit organisations - and the Lumiar Civil Parish.

Telheiras/Lumiar Renewable Energy Community brings together the local government and citizens to jointly invest, produce, and share solar power. It fosters the inclusion of energy-poor households and promotes democratic management.
Considering the challenges faced and the lessons learnt, the Telheiras/Lumiar REC published a 10-step Practical Guide for the development of renewable energy communities by citizens, associations, and local governments. This can be a useful resource for the blossoming of other RECs. You can find it here.

During this session you will learn about:

  1. How Telheiras/Lumiar Renewable Energy Community was created and how their model focusses on serving energy-poor households

  2. How digital tools are helping Telheiras energy community to succeed, and how they have been designed

  3. How Telheiras energy community is positioned in context of energy communities development in Portugal.
