INCLU:DE PEER EXCHANGES - Addressing energy poverty through inclusive local measures

April 14, 2025 from 13:00 to 16:00

Participants: Miguel Macias Sequeira

Throughout our previous peer exchanges, the INCLU:DE community explored ways to better integrate equity considerations in municipal climate action and enable the participation of structurally disadvantaged communities in the energy transition. The upcoming peer exchange will focus on the topic of energy poverty, discussing ways to support aff ected residents by designing targeted and accessible climate measures and supporting citizen-led initiatives.

The following questions will guide our conversation:
● How can we better understand causes, realities and dynamics leading to energy poverty, and design measures that address the needs of energy poor communities?
● How can cities broaden access to renewable energy especially for structurally disadvantaged communities and enable participation in programs and projects?

Following an introduction to concepts and methods for addressing energy poverty in municipal planning, developed by the Energy Poverty Advisory Hub (EPAH), we will gain practical insights into eff orts in the Parish of Lumiar (PT) to develop citizen-led and inclusive renewable energy communities. Participants are invited to engage in wider discussions on strategies to address energy poverty locally and share insights on good practices adopted in their city.
