Thursday, May 29th, was the Open Day of Renewable Energy Communities, at the Orlando Ribeiro Library in Telheiras, Lisbon. On the World Energy Day at the Telheiras Festival with Coopérnico, the Lumiar Parish Council and the Telheiras Local Partnership, the focus was on energy communities: their potential, the many challenges and the solutions that are beginning to exist!

From 10 am to 12:30 pm, the Seminar “Renewable Energy Communities – Citizen Action” took place in the Library Auditorium. The opening session was led by Rodrigo Benitez of the Lumiar Parish Council and Ana Rita Antunes of Coopérnico. The first panel "Overcoming Obstacles" included the presence of DGEG - Directorate-General for Energy and Geology (Filipe Pinto), ERSE - Energy Services Regulatory Authority (José Bigares) and E-REDES (Pedro Fonseca). The second panel "From Theory to Practice", moderated by Carla Castelo (Coopérnico), featured a presentation by Vera Ferreira and practical cases from CER Telheiras/Lumiar (Luís Keel Pereira) and CER Comenda (Ricardo Branco). To end the seminar, Miguel Macias Sequeira presented the proposal "Observe, Inform, Facilitate and Support - Measures to democratize and accelerate self-consumption and energy communities", developed by the Citizens' Commission for the Environment and Energy (Os 230 project).

In addition to the seminar, the Library hosted many other activities for all ages throughout the day on Thursday:

3pm - Technical visit to the photovoltaic panels of CER Telheiras/Lumiar

4:15-4:45 p.m. - Presentation "Want to produce your own energy? Learn how with BUÉ Smart", Luís Cachinho
4:45-5:15 p.m. - Presentation “Solutions to combat cold/heat at home”, Catarina Saraiva Pereira
5:30 p.m. - Pre-launch of the Energy Communities Digital Application (App) to connect citizens who want to create or join a CER
