The last two meetings of the Portuguese Municipal-Rural Partnership (MRP) of the LIFE ENTRACK project took place, facilitated by NOVA University Lisbon and AREANATejo, both project partners.

Over the past three years, the pilot municipalities of Gavião and Ponte de Sor have been supported through participatory tools and strong engagement pathways to inform policy design that responds to the territory's and its citizens' needs.

The MRP set out to build co-creation capacity and to strengthen dialogue across the region. As the process now draws to a close, it is sharing its results to help shape fair energy policies.

The morning session focused on solar power plants in rural territories and how they can benefit the region. The afternoon focused on co-creating a shared vision for a just and inclusive energy transition for these rural territories, bringing together the main lessons and proposals developed across the project's meetings and activities.

The follow-up action will be for all participants, during the three years of co-creation activities, to sign a joint memorandum setting out how to ensure an energy transition that delivers lasting benefits tailored to the needs of rural territories.
