The Annual PhD seminar will run between the 19th-21st of June, all students enrolled in the programme will present their work for evaluation by professors and departmental colleagues at the seminar. The PhD students consist of members of two recognised research groups at School of Science and Technology, NOVA University Lisbon (FCT NOVA): CENSE – Research Centre for Environment and Sustainability and MARE – Marine and Environmental Sciences Centre. Therefore the seminar offers a rich opportunity for the exchange of inter-displinary ideas as well as rare chance for all the students on the PhD programme to come together.
This year Firefly team members Miguel Macias Sequeira, Pedro Palma and Katherine Mahoney will present their work, they will also participate in an arts based science exhibition where they will be challenged to represent their work visually. Lab leader João Pedro Gouveia will also play an active part in the seminar as a discussant of the PhD presentations, as well as in his role as PhD supervisor to Miguel, Pedro and Katherine.
The titles of the PhD projects that will be presented by the Firefly team members at the seminar are as follows:
Miguel Macias Sequeira-Engaging with hard-to-reach energy users for a sustainable, inclusive, and just energy transition: Characterization of audiences and development of a local-scale support framework
