Rodrigo Trovão presented his master's thesis entitled Assessing Energy Poverty in the European Union Islands. Dr. João Pedro Gouveia was his thesis supervisor and Pedro Palma was his co-supervisor. Miguel Sequeira was part of the evaluation jury.

In this work, Rodrigo Trovão assessed energy poverty vulnerability in 19 NUTS2 regions, covering 11 member states. among EU Island regions, by focusing on 13 available metrics and indicators frequently used to evaluate energy poverty. Three types of analysis were carried out for each indicator. Firstly, an overview with an EU Map concerning each indicator's results was provided, aiming to detect the main regional hotspots. Secondly, the evolution of the results for each region with a three-year time horizon was explored. Finally, the variation between regions for each indicator was calculated, to determine how the performance of the island NUTS2 regions compared to the average value of the respective country.
