Around 80% of Portuguese homes are energy inefficient and more than two million people cannot afford to heat them. This portrait is not new, but a year after the publication of the National Long-Term Strategy for Combating Energy Poverty 2023-2050, little or nothing has changed, according to João Pedro Gouveia, researcher at the Faculty of Science and Technology at Universidade Nova ( FCT-UNL).
And with winter tightening within its normality – minimum temperatures will be between 5ºC and 10ºC on the coast in the coming days and will reach negative values in the mountainous areas of the interior – the theme returns to 'freezing' the order of the day.
