Too warm on a summer night
Too cold on a winter day
This is what they call energy poverty
It is what I’ll begin to say
Millions face this problem
Day in and day out
No matter where you go
Up north or down south
So many to help
But so difficult to find
The best science we need
And all the good knowledge combined
Before the solution
The problem we must know
Proper diagnosis is key
This is the message I echo
Indicators, measurements, metrics, and assessments
Such a complicated mess
Scientists debate and debate
And people still in thermal distress
And so, to better diagnose
To you here, I propose
An extended and comprehensive method,
no less
For all spatial scales to address
Look here, this is just part of the way
From country to civil parish
Even deeper, to the neighbourhood and household level I must go
For this social issue to vanish
Only from up close
can we finally disclose
all the different groups and vulnerabilities
for when policies are designed
no one is left behind
And if we hurt from it
Our kids might hurt too
Future scenarios I will assess
So, we are prepared when it is due
And to stakeholders and policymakers, I say
Here is my work, come and see
For you, it is free
Make the best of it
For a hopeful today
A better tomorrow,
And everyone’s glee.
