PhD Candidate at NOVA University of Lisbon
Evandro is an energy engineer who graduated from the Federal University of Paraíba (UFPB, Brazil) with a focus on energy poverty, household energy efficiency, renewable energy communities, collective self-consumption schemes, smart metering analysis, consumer segmentation, photovoltaic system projects, electrical projects, and electrical substations.
Currently, he is a researcher at CENSE FCT-NOVA, pursuing a PhD in Environment and Sustainability, with a focus on energy efficiency, mitigating energy poverty, renewable energy generation, and energy building performance. Evandro has contributed to several national projects in these areas, such as national energy efficiency financing schemes for households (PAE+S II and PAE+S 2023), public administration buildings, and service buildings. Additionally, Evandro has participated in a national project involving the analysis of smart electricity meters, consumer clustering, and household energy efficiency with a Portuguese electricity supplier. Regarding international projects, he is also part of the European Energy Poverty Advisory Hub (EPAH 2023), a leading EU initiative aimed at eradicating energy poverty and accelerating the just energy transition in European local communities. In addition, Evandro also contributed in developing and monitoring a local financing scheme in the municipality of Cascais (Fundos Verdes Cascais).
Evandro is also an active volunteer for the local partnership of Telheiras - an operating renewable energy community in Lisbon, which was the study case of his MSc. dissertation regarding the reduction of energy poverty and enhancement of energy citizenship through these energy actions.
